HIV / AIDS Programmes In The Clinics / Community:

In all clinics the following services are rendered:

  • Pre and post counselling for the above mentioned services
  • VCT is offered to all clients
  • Blood samples are being collected
  • Screening and staging of patients are done to be able to roll out the Ante retroviral programme efficiently and promptly when drugs are available
  • Patients are holistically evaluated to identify physical, emotional and social needs
  • Health Education are given to all clinics clients regarding HIV / AIDS
  • Free Male and Female condoms are available at the clinics
  • Trained volunteers of SEBOKA assist in clinics in counseling the clients for VCT
  • Staff occasionally visits institutions on invitation for providing health education and VCT.

Home Based Care:

  • As a result of the above obtained information, patients are visited at home (when frail or bedridden), or are referred to the relevant stakeholders / institutions
  • Assist in birth registration of children
  • Ensure that children are placed in schools
  • Orphans are placed in a safe environment – in collaboration with social services.
  • Ensure the very ill indeed patients qualify for social grants
  • Ensure that the elderly / caretaker of children do get a grant
  • Ensure clients’ health needs are taken care of

Interventions developed in assisting the programme:

  • Community Child Care Forum was established to support the child in need
  • Ward councillors in collaboration with Local Aids Council are carrying out a survey to identify the child in need
  • Potch Wellness Forum was established to form a network with the various relevant stakeholders
  • Food parcels is given to the families / households in dire need
  • Clothing, Blankets and other household items are supplied where needed
  • Outreach programmes are in place in collaboration with the FBO’s and NGO’s
  • Relationships have been established with various Churches that work as a helping hand e.g. (Donating clothes, food, blankets, etc. and sharing their compassion with the community
  • Vegetable gardens were developed – eco circles
  • Surveys are done by post graduate students regarding the various programmes
