Vision
A culturally and artistically sensitive community

sensitive community, with adequate sports, recreation
and tourism services, with a healthy and aesthetic
environment, comprising of street trees, parks,
sport facilities, cemeteries and the Lakeside
Resort. Hereby social and human development
and well being as well as economic development
can be optimised in Potchefstroom.
Mission
To respect and promote an understanding of
the history and cultural diversity of all residents
in order to promote cultural tourism. To promote
the means by which people of all ages, interests
and circumstances may avail themselves of the
latest information for personal, educational
and cultural enrichment. To supply a safe, aesthetically
pleasing and healthy environment and to develop
and maintain facilities to promote sport tourism.
To develop the Lakeside Resort to a quality
self-sufficient recreational and tourist attraction.
Strategy
- Extend current Libraries to Multi-purpose
Community Centres
- Select and acquire library material to address
the needs of all the cultures in Potch
- Provide new sports facilities and maintain
existing facilities
- Beautify and green the city
- Develop a new Regional Cemetery
- Manage & maintain current cemetery infrastructure
- Establish arts & culture center in Ikageng
as part of a multi-purpose center
- Promote local arts and culture
- Provide business opportunities at the airport
