The Potchefstroom City Council is concern and takes very seriously the threats which have been leveled against the Executive Mayor, the City Council and the general population of Potchefstroom.

Amongst other things these threats contain the threat on the lives of the people of the city, in case the Mayor does not respond, we regard this particular threat as very serious considering whatever subtle or hidden meaning of it.

These threats come immediately after the removal of our new street names and the destruction of Council property. As the City Council, we would like to assure our community in the city not to panic and to maintain calmness in these times of serious opposition to change.

We are not scared, but we are indeed very concern, we have to this effect communicated with relevant authorities and law enforcement agencies in this regard, hoping and trusting that the police will leave no stone unturned in apprehending these cowards.

The City Council of Potchefstroom and the people of this city will never be intimidated by individuals and groups of people who are opposed to change, with or without these acts we shall continue with change.
