Tlokwe municipality would like to inform the public that our testing station which was included amongst the stations to be suspended due to non- compliance with the “minimum requirements for registration and grading of driving testing centers” is no longer going to be suspended.
By late afternoon on Tuesday, 11 September 2007, the Department of Transport, Roads and Community safety had communicated with our relevant department to indicate that the inclusion of Potchefstroom driver’s testing station was a mistake which could easily be attributed to lack of communication on the part of the Provincial department of Transport, Roads and community safety.
We would like to inform our community of Potchefstroom and the general public that our testing station will not close or be suspended, we will continue to operate as usual and people can come and make appointments. In fact, it was found that our testing station is up to date and meet the “minimum requirements for registration and grading of driving testing centers”.
Furthermore, we are indeed equally disappointed by the comments made by the Provincial leader of the opposition, Mr. Chris Hatting, who during an interview with the North West independent newspaper, spoke as if he has facts about the problems as alleged by the Department’s mistaken and misleading media release.
We call on Mr. Hatting that in future he should not jump on any conclusions without having verified his facts. As it is the case now, the Provincial department retracted its conclusions on Potchefstroom thus nullifying his unverified remarks.
